Adding
a performance intercooler can make a tremendous difference to
your cars drivability.
If
you tow, or do any kind of low speed / high torque driving (such
as off roading) then the standard intercooler will struggle to cope.
Induction and exhaust gas temps will rise and the engine will become
increasingly inefficient. The greater cooling area of a larger intercooler
will ensure your engine takes in a cool air charge, even at low
speeds, with notably improved torque.
Take
a look at the picture of a standard Td5 intercooler, opposite. Compare
this with the large intercooler pictures below, and the difference
becomes pretty obvious!
All
our Intercoolers are designed to fill whatever space is available.
After all, If you're going to fit a performance intercooler, you
should fit a big one!

It
is possible to install a much larger intercooler onto Defender and
Discovery Manual transmission models than the standard item. These
intercoolers are approximately four times the size of the standard
Td5 intercooler! These larger uprated intercoolers fit onto the original
intercooler mounts, but will require some small plastic clips on the
radiator to be cut off to allow clearence for the much larger core.
Power
and torque increases of over 60% are attainable from our Intercoolers, with the appropriate
ecu remap and boost upgrade.
For Td5 models, To
get the best out of your intercooler, we always recommend the fitment
of a Turbo Booster and an appropriate ECU Remap, so the intercooler
will work more efficiently. TDCi Puma models can have boost pressure increased within the engine ecu software.
NOTE: An uprated intercooler on It's own will make only a small positive
difference, and you'll never realise It's potential at standard boost
settings. By increasing boost pressure, the larger intercooler is
then able to dissipate the additional heat generated by the turbo
(compressor), so that inlet air temperatures can be reduced to provide
optimal combustion. |

| Testing
has revealed a pressure drop of less than 5% across the intercooler
core (measured at 1barg), with excellent air distribution
throughout the core, producing rapid heat dissipation, and
giving a much denser intake air charge with negligible pressure
drop. |

All our Intercoolers are individually inspected, pressure and leak tested at 25psi, and then certificated prior to despatch to us from the factory.
